Beto Quintanilla was born on December 14, 1948 in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was a famous Mexican singer-songwriter and musician, known for his contributions to the norteño and narcocorrido music genres. He began his career in the 1970s and released his first album, "El Mero Leon Del Corrido," in 1976. He went on to release over 20 albums throughout his career, many of which became popular for their depictions of drug trafficking and violence along the Mexican border. Quintanilla is also known for his controversial lyrics that often glorified drug dealers and traffickers. He was tragically killed on March 18, 2007, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, after being shot twelve times by unknown assailants.
